I know what you mean Julie- I've been getting worse since Christmas. Sulf doesn't seem to be working and I'm back on diclofenac and paracetaoml full time. My wrists and elbowsI have really copped it this time. Yesterday my knees kicked off and i could barely walk yesterday. Hardly slept for ages. due to see rheumy next month so hopefully he'll sort it.

Look after yourself

OOH Julie, so painful for you and not quite what you wanted to hear I imagine.

I understand how terribly busy the rheumys become, but you need to know the result of your x-rays and 6 months is a very long time when you're in so much pain and anxious regarding meds.

Dare I suggest you ask for a second opinion/see someone privately just for one occasion to have an all round review?

The MTX has been put up to the max dose now so they will not increase it further. Other meds they may add are Azothriprine (I took this all throughout my teens) or a different anti inflam.

Sorry I haven't been much help....do you use a hot or col treatment on your hands? Or a cold gel like Devils Claw?

Much love,

Amanda

Hi Julie

I can't understand why you are not being put forward for anti tnf. If two or three DMARDS have not helped, then surely this is the way to go?

I think Amanda's idea of a second opinion, privately, is a good one.

It also seems too long for you to have to wait for another appointment. Can you have a specialist nurse appointment in between?

Take care Julie - this seems so unfair

Love Jeanxxxx

I'm sorry you're feeling down, and not getting the right treatment. You may find that with the MTX being increased it will help you. Could you ask to be redeployed at work?

Hope things improve for you soon.

Lyn
